Yeosu Regional Maritime Affairs and Port Office, as one of the subsidiary organizations of the MINISTRY OF LAND, INFRASTRUCTURE, TRANSPORT AND MARITIME AFFAIRS, takes charge of comprehensive duties in relation to maritime affairs and port operation of three cities. There are six divisions including the operation and development of Yeosu port and Gwangyang port.
With a vision of developing Korea into the leading maritime nation of 21st century, the Office carries out a wide range of functions by focusing on the following areas:
Construction and promotion of Gwangyang Container Terminal, which is emerging as logistics hub of Northeast Asia.
Conserving the marine environment and strengthening maritime security.
Improving transportation for island residents.
Boosting marine tourism.
Raising awareness of maritime issues.
